History

A choreographed dance, said to be inspired by the positions of figures on ancient Greek vases.

Rhythm

The music is in an even 3/4 rhythm and all the steps are the same length

Steps

Start in a line, arms in a V hold, facing right.

Take three steps forward, starting with the left, while slowly raising the arms to a W hold.

Turn to face left and take three steps backwards, starting with the right, while bowing the head slightly and lowering the arms to a V hold.

Turn to face centre and take three steps forward, starting with the left, while raising the arms high.

Take three steps backwards, starting with the right, while lowering the arms to a V hold.

There are two bars of introduction, the dance starts with the melody played by the strings.
