Rododachtilos Avgi Mou

History

A Greek dance from Artaki in Asia Minor. I learnt this from Cindy Kelly and Adrian Pointon in 2007.

Rhythm

The music is in an even 4/4 rhythm with the steps in a 2-1-1 (slow, quick, quick) pattern.

Steps

Start in a line, arms in a V hold, facing right.

First part

Take four slow steps forward, starting with the right.

Turning to face centre step to the side with the right, cross in front with the left, and replace the right (slow, quick, quick).
Repeat this to the left with opposite feet.

Do the first part four times.

Second part

Raise the arms to a W hold while facing centre.

Step to the side with the right, cross behind with the left, then step to the side with the right (slow, quick, quick).

Cross in front with the left, side to the right, cross behind with the left (slow, quick, quick).

Step to the side with the right, cross in front with the left, then replace the right (slow, quick, quick).

Step diagonally back with the left, then back with the right, then replace the left (slow, quick, quick).

Do the second part twice.

The music for the second part plays as an introduction, the dance begins with the singing.

Music

Sorry, I have no information about the music.
