Dvašti Trišti

History

A dance from the Rhodope region of Bulgaria. It's a variation of the dance Svornato that fits this particular tune exactly.
I learned this dance from Yves Moreau in 2011.

Rhythm

The music is a combination of 9/8 (quick-quick-quick-slow) and 5/8 (quick-slow) rhythms.

Steps

Start in a line in a W hold, facing right.

First part (with singing)

Take four steps forward in quick-quick-quick-slow rhythm, starting on the right. Do this twice.
Turning to face centre step to the side with the right (quick), then cross behind with the left (slow). Step to the side with the right (quick), then step across in front with the left (slow).
Step to the side with the right (quick), cross behind with the left (quick), step to the side with the right (quick), close with the left (slow).
Repeat all of this to the left with opposite feet.

Second part (instrumental)

Facing centre take four steps forward in quick-slow-quick-slow rhythm, starting with the right.
Take three quick steps forward starting with the right, then touch close with the left (slow).
Repeat all of this with opposite feet moving back.

Do the second part twice.

There is an instrumental introduction, the dance starts with the singing.
