October 2009 - March 2010: Findhorn Bakery & Bakehouse Café
Project: Sales and invoicing program, product pricing and labelling program
Skills: Objective-C, Xcode, Interface Builder, MacOS X
Designed, wrote and implemented a program to monitor production and distribution of products and to generate invoices and accounts. Ease of use and a clear user interface was a major prerequisite. Also designed forms, paperwork and procedures to work with the new system.
Wrote a pricing and labelling program for the bakery products, with a BOM structured data design.
Ongoing - support and enhancement of the systems.
December 2008 - January 2009: Findhorn Bay Caravan Park
Project: Holiday caravan park booking and billing system rewrite
Skills: Objective-C, Xcode, Interface Builder, MacOS X
A complete rewrite of the booking system (see March 2002). New features were added and the user interface remodelled to provide an easier and simpler working experience, especially for new and temporary staff. I worked from home with regular visits to the client site.
October 2008 - November 2008: local car sharing groups
Project: Carshare, a program to process records and accounts for community car sharing groups.
Skills: Objective-C, Xcode, Interface Builder, MacOS X
After extensive consultation with local car sharing groups I designed and wrote an application to provide management and accounting for their systems. The work was done from home with regular visits to the client sites.
Ongoing - support and enhancement of Carshare.
2006 - ongoing
I have provided training, advice, technical support and some programming work for individuals and organisations in my local area for the past few years.
Clients include Trees For Life, Wild Things and Findhorn College.

Skills: Objective-C, Xcode, Interface Builder
Converted several projects from C++ to Objective-C as the CodeWarrior development environment was discontinued.
April 2004 - February 2006: Expressive Software Projects Ltd.
Project: Music processing engine
Skills: C++ (cross-platform), MacOS X, Metrowerks Codewarrior, QuickTime
Designed and implemented a cross-platform update of the ESP music processing engine, both as a replacement for existing code and as a basis for future product development. I worked from home, visiting the company site a few times each year.
September 2003: HoCo
Project: Ground rent budgeting module
Skills: C++ , MacOS X, Metrowerks Codewarrior and PowerPlant
Developed a finance program to run alongside the billing system (for New Findhorn Directions, see October 2001) to allow ground rent levels to be projected forward for budgeting purposes. For this contract I worked from home, visiting the company site every other day on average.
October 2002 - April 2003
Worked on my MacOS X skills. Took an Internet-based course on MacOs X program development, covering Objective-C programming, theCocoa framework, and Project Builder and InterfaceBuilder usage. I combined this with my own home study using material from Apple Developer Connection.
April 2002 - ongoing
I provide support and enhancements for local companies (Findhorn Bay Caravan Park, New Findhorn Directions, HoCo) both for the systems I have written and for their other Mac applications. This has allowed them to fine-tune their bespoke systems over the years to give a better match to their business and staffing requirements.

I worked mainly from home, visiting the company site once a week on average.
March 1998 - August 2001: Softease Ltd.

Outside Interests

I have been a circle (folk) dance teacher since 1985, leading workshops both in the U.K. and abroad (Europe, USA, Bahamas, Australia). As a result of this I am comfortable in leading groups and dealing with group dynamics, which has proved useful in my work environment.
I am an amateur musician, my main instruments being the guitar, bass guitar and keyboard synthesizer. Recently I have become interested in playing European folk music and I am currently studying the Macedonian and Bulgarian tamburas.
Since moving to Scotland I have invested in and become a member of Duneland, a company working to replant an old pine plantation with native Scottish trees and to manage ecologically friendly and sustainable development of the area.
